FAQ

Over Your Donkey FAQ

Why do I need OYD?

Stay informed of active driving conditions. Help your fellow drivers stay informed of driving conditions that you experience. No radar detector - no problem. No live traffic service - no problem. Not listening to radio about accidents ahead - no problem. No red light camera data in your GPS - no problem.

How does OYD work?

OYD is a mobile application that utilizes a centralized server to store and make decisions on live traffic information that is submitted by you and your peer drivers. You can add new locations while driving that need the attention of your peer drivers. You can be warned in advance of driving conditions experienced by your peers. You can update information submitted by your peers to keep the driving conditions current.

Why do I need to create an account?

We ask for an account (email address and password) to identify you to us only. We do not share your information in any way. You can use the same account for all your mobile device installations. In the future we may reward those who share the most accurate information on a regular basis. We also reserve the right to deactivate your account if you abuse the system.

What mobile devices are currently supported?

Currently we support the iPhone 4.x.

Will you support other mobile devices?

Yes. Keep watching our news links for updated information.

Will you support other developers using your service?

Yes. We are launching a developer portal very soon.

Why do you charge money for your application?

We have bills to pay. The servers, bandwidth, and proprietary patent-pending logic cost money. Is a better, safer driving experience not worth a few dollars? We think so. Currently you get 90 days' free subscription with the purchase of the application. You can extend the initial 90-day subscription with one or more of these available subscriptions:

  • Annual Subscription
  • Six-Month Subscription
  • Three-Month Subscription
  • Monthly Subscription

Your subscriptions transfer across mobile devices.

What languages are supported?

We currently support English, Spanish, and French. Other languages coming very soon.
